Open all Hours

From Chef James:

“We returned to work earlier this month following the second lockdown which was fortunately much shorter than the first. We are looking forward to our first guests arriving today!”

A bed on wheels for sleeping under the stars...

“After a six week break, Loisaba itself appeared as if refurbished, with the rain making everywhere so green and lush. From the hilly areas to the plain the animals were looking very happy and relaxed with plenty to forage on. When we got back into the camp, some of the animals had taken advantage of the lull and I was greeted by a hyena which left the yard quite rapidly.”

“We were very happy to have all of the Elewana Collection staff back together, everyone having tested negative for corona virus, and to have a little fun and sharing some memories while we renovated, cleaned, and polished every area of all three lodges – Loisaba Tented Camp, the Loisaba Star Beds, and Loisaba Lodo Springs. Once again we feel like a team and a family.”

“Yesterday we put in all of the fine touches ready to welcome our guests and made sure that all of our covid 19 protocols were in place as set by the Ministry of Heath for the protection of visitors and staff in very department, including the game drives.”

“Best of all is the news that I have been promoted from Relief Chef to Acting Head Chef at Loisaba Star Beds. I believe this was thanks to the positive comments made by previous guests about my dishes, and also my willingness to take on extra duties. I welcome the opportunity to put my own stamp on the menu and to try out some new things; I’ve just received a great cookery book on authentic Indian recipes and I am looking forward to trying them out. I’ve also started to replant our kitchen garden so that we can supply our own herbs.”

“In the kitchen I will be joined by George and another chef, while the house keeping team including Salad will take care of the rooms. Frances will be serving in the main lodge and making sure that the guests are happy. Fisher will be guarding us all over night, making sure that the wild animals stay outside the fence and don’t join the guests! We do however, have the occasional animal visitors which the guests adore.”
