Torrie'd Affair

And suddenly we are back! Just to explain that you will now see a profile picture in relation to the author's other blog as well as this one. It has been good to reconnect both after a long break. Hopefully we will be able to catch up with all of the staff and the animals over time but let's start with Viki the Kudu.

Whilst Viki has kept herself to herself , still living close to Torrie's house rather than joining the other female kudu from Tented Camp, she did allow a very fine young man to come a-courting.

You'll recall that the last time we saw her she was enjoying the view from the Torrie's terrace and occasionally popped down to the airstrip to see who was about.

This stunning male kudu came to visit about a month ago and now Viki maybe pregnant.

Viki has been able to practice her maternal skills with another new arrival at the camp, Jamie. He was found on January 30th this year by one of the off duty rangers who was herding his goats. The young kudu was only a couple of days old and very weak and dehydrated. The ranger brought him back to Loisaba and Torrie set to work on bringing him to life. Soon he was going from strength to strength. He is still very shy and refuses to take milk from anyone but Torrie. He is very affectionate and has now started going out and about with Torrie, building up his strength and courage.

As you can see, he was tiny next to Viki

Growing taller and stronger.
