Will we get Rhinos for Christmas?

Martin has got himself into a bit of a hole!

In October 2020, Loisaba was given conditional approval from The Kenyan Wildlife Service to reintroduce the eastern black rhino into the conservancy. Since then Loisaba, with its partners, has been fundraising for the capital and operational costs. During 2022, the Conservancy has been concentrating on the infrastructure in order to be ready to receive the rhino when final approval has been received. In time, it is hoped that there will be a stable connected landscape of about 750,000 acres in which rhinos can safely live within Laikipia. This is where conservancies with the co-operation of their neighbours and all of the communities come into their own.
