The Spice Girls

A week or so ago, the ranger team rescued a baby gerenuk (long-necked antelope) which had been orphaned or abandoned when it was only a few days old. We’ve been holding our breath ever since to see whether she would survive – especially as some young boys from the community had already ‘notched’ her ears; Ambrose is on the case to try and educate these children about the damage this can do.

The gerenuk is now being bottle fed and she in good company as she has been united with a six week old orphaned Thomson's gazelle. Such young animals are always vulnerable to digestive problems and infections, but the team are doing their best to ensure that they will both live.
