What's new pussycat?
As well as the lions, leopards and elephants at Loisaba, there are lots of other interesting species. Here are some of the more unusual ones.
This is the elusive Klipspringer - with the world's best ears - to be found living on rocky outcrops. Like the smaller dik-dik, they are monogamous but they are also nocturnal and therefore much harder to find.
The yellow-billed stork walks with a high-stepping gate and feeds from the water. In the air they like to float on thermals and don't waste any energy.
The Defassa waterbuck, as its name suggests, also like watery areas. They are rather sedentary in nature and live in small herds of five to thirty individuals.
The Martial Eagle likes to catch its prey coming down from a high soar. They are one of the most persecuted birds because of their ability to take small livestock.
