Male Grevy's zebra tend to live alone, mating with passing females and not forming a herd - maybe that explains their forlorn expression particularly as the male Common zebra is inclined to include Grevy's females in his own herds. Cross-breeding is threatening the future of the Grevy's zebra as a whole.

Martin is fascinated by the lizards that live under his roof and spend their day sunning themselves on his wall; not so much living life in the shadows, but living life just underneath it.

The 'nest' of the Three-Banded Plover is not so much sparse as non-existent and consists only of a slight dip in the ground. Their survival depends on the constant attention - and stillness - of their parents as they take it in turns to sit on the eggs.
